In Truth, National Caregivers Day Is Every Day!

National Caregivers Day is the third Friday in February. Caregivers can be family members or friends, or they can be paid professionals.

Professional caregivers like our superstars at At Home Senior Care provide necessary assistance from personal care to medical aid.  Clients tend to be the elderly or someone who is ill or disabled in some way.  They may live independently or with family at home, in a retirement community, or an assisted living facility.  Caregivers meet them wherever they are in life to offer support without judgment.  Their duties usually include managing doctors’ appointments, health and wellness, meals, and housework. Companionship is also always involved as it is key to developing a relationship of trust and support between caregiver and client.  Caregivers know that a compassionate and respectful heart toward the people they care for will only serve to strengthen that relationship.

Professional caregivers respect the dignity and comfort of those they care for, no matter the circumstances.  People who are still trying to be independent but who need help sometimes don’t want to acknowledge their caregiver – that way; they can feel that they are still independent.  Some people have mental and emotional challenges such as dementia.  On difficult days, these challenges can cloud a persons’ perspective, making them forgetful or combative.  Caregivers are not saints, but their level of patience is tested and found to be sound every time they provide care to their people.  It is an extraordinary feat to be applauded and yet ask any caregiver: they will say they hardly notice because they love what they do.

At Home Senior Care would like to take this opportunity to extend our sincerest thanks to all the professional and family caregivers out there!  Your work is vital, and your hearts are made of gold!  Call At Home Senior Care at 802-768-8565 or visit our website at https://www.athomeseniors.net for more information.
